HOW TO GET HERE

Fly to Denpasar, Bali. Denpasar is directly served by most international airlines from many cities around the world. Grand Komodo will be happy to assist you in taking your domestic airline needs as well as reservations for airport transfers and hotel accommodations.

Grand Komodo Tours has been operating “off the beaten track” land tours throughout Indonesia since 1987. Our premier land tours include: Komodo “ Land of the Dragon”,

Keli Mutu the beautiful multi-colored lages on the island of Flores, the traditional animist villages and the Ikat weaving on the village of Sumba as well as Bali. Grand Komodo is also able to customize your trip if you have an area of special interest that you would like to visit. Our staff of local experts can assist you in all aspects of your travel needs.

For divers who are not part of a group neither chartering one of our boats we have “Join-In” departures. You may book your dive trip direct through Grand Komodo Tours and Dives (www.komodoalordive.com) or through your travel agent. Day dive trips are also available from Labuan Bajo on the island of Flores.

Should you wish to dive elsewhere in Indonesia, Grand Komodo would be happy to assist in organizing your trip. Make your reservation early. Live-aboard boats usually are booked many months in advance.

OUR FLAGSHIPS

Our four flagships are all modernized traditional Indonesian Bugis style wooden boats. Accommodations are simple and clean. Our Superior AC Vessel the TemuKira, and our Standard AC Vessels the PutriPapua and the Tarata have cabins with individually controlled air conditioning units. Our Standard Fan vessel the Nusa Tara have fans in each cabin. We serve a mix of Asian and European/Western style foodand authentic Indonesian cuisine. Soft drinks and beer are available at a nominal cost. Our crews are Indonesians: competent and friendly. They are onboard to serve your needs. Our homeport is Sape in the island of Sumbawa.

BALI TO THE DIVE BOATS

Komodo Dive Programs
You will fly to Bima on the island of Sumbawa or to Labuan Bajo on West – Flores. Flight time is approximately 1:30 hours. You will be picked up at the airport by Grand Komodo staff and driven through the beautiful mountains of Sumbawa to our homeport of Sape. The drive takes about 1:30 hours. There are many photographic opportunities as you pass through the beautiful teak forests and many villages along the road.

Alor and Wakatobi Dive Programs
You will fly directly from Denpasar to Maumere. In Maumere you will be picked up by Grand Komodo staff and driven to your hotel or dependent on your schedule, directly to the boat.

RAJA AMPAT (Irian / Papua) Dive Program
You can either fly from Denpasar to Ujungpandang, one transit overnight there then fly Ujungpandang – Sorong the next morning; or, fly from Jakarta to Sorong with a short transit in Ujungpandang ; or, fly Manado – Sorong. In Sorong you will be picked up by Grand Komodo staff and taken directly to the boat.

HIGHLIGHTS

According to world renown ichthyologists Indonesia possesses the world’s richest fish fauna. The Indonesian archipelago stretches in an east-west direction for approximately 5000 km (3100 miles) encompassing nearly 18,000 islands and a seemingly endless array of marine habitats. Moreover, the world’s highest reef fish total (1,111 species) for a single restricted locality was recorded at Maumere Bay on the island of Flores (Allen and Kuiter, unpublished).
